By Election Day, persuasion is over. Your only job is making sure the supporters you identified actually vote, and that operation runs on volunteers standing outside polling places for six-hour shifts. Take care of them and they perform; forget them and your GOTV plan quietly walks home at noon. Buy this stuff the week before, not the morning of.
The poll greeter kit
- Hand warmers in bulk: November poll greeting is cold work, and a box of these is volunteer retention in packet form.
- An insulated coffee dispenser: hot coffee at the polls keeps the morning shift smiling into the afternoon.
- Folding chairs and, where weather demands, a pop-up canopy with weights.
- Bulk ponchos, because turnout does not reschedule for rain.
The phone problem
Your whole turnout operation lives on phones: the supporter list, the strike list, the group chat with your poll captains. Dead phones don’t chase voters. Issue every captain a portable charger and run a multiport charging station at HQ so devices rotate through fully charged.
Signs, legally placed
High-visibility signage near polls, exactly as far from the entrance as your state requires. Your spare H-stakes and rubber mallet from sign season get one last deployment. Electioneering distance rules vary by state and are enforced on the day; confirm the number with your election authority before you place anything.
The list is the whole game
None of this matters without the list of identified supporters you built at the doors all year. Your Election Day universe is every 1 and 2 you scored, and your team’s only job is chasing the ones who have not voted yet, hour by hour, until polls close. If that sentence is news, start with the free Campaign Starter Kit, which includes the full 96-hour plan and poll-coverage grid, and the complete gear list for everything upstream of Election Day.
