How many votes does it actually take to win your race? Most first-time candidates never do this math, then campaign at everyone and run out of time and money. Two minutes here fixes that. How the math works

Step 1: total votes from the most comparable past election (same seat, same election type), adjusted for expected turnout change. Step 2: multiply by your target percentage. Don’t aim for 50%; aim for a 52 to 54% cushion, because some supporters won’t turn out. Step 3: not everyone you talk to supports you, so divide by your expected support rate to get total contacts, then by your remaining weeks to get the weekly goal that should drive every week of your campaign.
